“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”
—Wayne Dyer
Mental exercises help build new brain cells and strengthen the connections between them, which is why I find it beneficial to challenge the brain with new activities every week. This week’s mental workout is about seeing the beauty in things that may, at first glance, appear to be broken.
Today, seek out the beauty in what’s broken or abandoned: a dry leaf drifting in the wind, bits of shattered glass along the highway, an abandoned car on a country road. Beauty can be found anywhere! You just have to unlock your mind to see it.
The more you train your eye to see the beauty in the broken, the more your begin to rewire your viewpoint from negative to positive. As much as we wish things were different, we must accept difficult situations for what they are. When we can alter our perspective to find that silver lining, it empowers us to take the next step in creating positive change. By continually engaging the mind in positive thinking, you can train your brain to develop strong resilience that ultimately brings more peace and calm to your life.
