Breast Cancer AwarenessOctober is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the annual international campaign organized by major breast cancer charities to heighten awareness of the disease and raise funds for research.

I just donated $100 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation to help a woman without insurance coverage to get a mammogram. I hope you will consider donating, too!

For me, as for many of you, this is personal, because several friends and family members I love have been affected. The women in my life who have been diagnosed with breast cancer are icons of strength. I admire their courage and perseverance. Each one has told me that her strongest weapon in battling the disease has been the support she has received from other women with breast cancer.

With all the attention and money that have been directed toward breast cancer, rates don’t seem to have fallen. 1 in 8 women are diagnosed. We can speculate as to why that might be, but from a practical standpoint, all we can really do is continue getting screened regularly.

To that end, I just donated $100 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation to help a woman without insurance coverage to get a mammogram. I hope you will do the same! The first ten of you who do will receive a goodie bag from us. (Please send email confirmation of your donation and your mailing address to
