“We are our own teacher. We know what’s right. We know what we need to do.” Barb Schmidt
When I sat down to talk with spiritual teacher and author Barb Schmidt, there was an immediate comfort, like sitting down with an old dear friend for coffee. It’s easy to tell when someone is passionate about their work, and Barb had such a natural uplifting energy and genuine warmth, it was clear that she has found her inner peace.
During our conversation, Barb opened up about her battle with bulimia, how it took a toll on her body and mind, and the steps she took to heal. Her recovery prompted the start of her spiritual journey. As time passed, she knew she wanted to pass on the tools that have enabled her to live a healthy, fulfilling life.
In her book, The Practice: Simple Tools for Managing Stress, Finding Inner Peace, and Uncovering Happiness Barb Schmidt explains the meditation and mindfulness techniques she applies to her everyday life with the hope that what she has learned will inspire readers to find a practice of their own, a practice that works best for them.
The bottom line: When you cultivate a deep connection with your inner self, your relationships flourish. You are authentic; you don’t allow the mind to take you down a path that’s not real.
