I am so excited! On Thursday, May 22, I’ll be speaking at Emerging Women’s New York Power Party. I’ve been a fan of Emerging Women since I attended their first-ever live event in Boulder, Colorado, last October. I met, listened to, and learned from so many remarkable people, including Elizabeth Gilbert, Brené Brown, Sera Beak, Eve Ensler, Alanis Morissette, Erin Weed, Tara Sophia Mohr, Nancy Levin, and Tami Simon.
Wondering what it’s all about? The founder, Chantal Pierrat, describes it like this: “Emerging Women exists to support and inspire women to express themselves authentically through the work they do. We strive to provide the tools, knowledge, and network to help women lead, start, and grow businesses in a way that integrates feminine values such as connection, collaboration, and heart. It is our desire that women have a strong voice in the shaping of our world’s future.”
The Power Party will be on a more intimate scale than the Emerging Women Live event, and there will be lots of time for networking. And seriously, all the speakers sound great:
Wokie Nwabueze is a communication strategist and conflict-resolution expert who helps people develop interpersonal communication skills, confidence, and presence. She believes, “women have an extraordinary ability to compromise themselves—to confuse being passive with being patient, to remain silent in the face of suffering, and make excuses for others’ unacceptable behavior, all while accepting less than they deserve.” She wants to change that.
Jenny Blake, author of Life After College: The Complete Guide to Getting What You Want (Running Press), as well as career and business strategist and international speaker, helps smart people organize their brains, move beyond burnout, and build careers they love.
Harvard-trained theologian Meggan Watterson is the author of Reveal: A Sacred Manual for Getting Spiritually Naked (Hay House). According to Meggan, “discovering these stories, texts, and spiritual voices of the Divine Feminine helped me to reveal my own spiritual voice.” She is dedicated to empowering women to connect to the love within them, reclaim their bodies as sacred, and become agents of change in the world.
And I can’t wait to meet Rha Goddess, a performance artist, activist, and social entrepreneur who founded Move the Crowd, which is dedicated to teaching Conscious Urban Entrepreneurs how to “Stay True, Get Paid, and Do Good.” That’s definitely something I can get behind.
