Here is a homework question from one of our readers, and Michele’s response:
How do I get my stubborn son to do his homework in 10th grade? He is bright and feels he knows the information so it would be a waste of time. I have tried everything.
The key question is does your son really know the information? How are his grades and test scores? If they are low, then it’s a concern. I wonder whether your son mastered study skills (how to be organized, how to study, take notes, review details, manage time)? Very often students flounder and don’t study correctly because they’ve never acquired those skills. If that’s the case with your son, there are options: an online study skill course, a private tutor, or a summer school class. You might also ask the school counselor for information.
